Newspaper. How to use the newspaper to your advantage

Newspaper and you!

At the time of writing this guide, I am level 48.
This guide as my other blogs are more just how I have and have played the game.

I found this image while on Google so I am not the copyright holder (as with all images) but I thought it was a perfect example of my point I wish to illustrate (well part off)

First off I would like to cover

Making FREE money on news paper

This one although sounding straight forward its something you really must consider how long you will hold onto an item before it sells, especially if you want to have an active stall (which we will talk about in a later tutorial) but for now we really want to focus on items that you can buy fast and sell fast.

Now alot of new players will post items up at the default price, some times its hard to know exactly what is a default price but over time you do learn such as corn 10 for 72.. sugar cane 10 for 144 or Bacon 10 for 504. Its important when seeing items such as Corn 4 for 10g to establish this maybe a new player, and as such not only selling veges at default price, but premium items as well (They advertise vegetables first because thats what default opens, but stick around for a min or two and you will usually get things that sell because they want money, now I know that sounds like praying on the weak, but really if you don't buy it someone else will right?

Alot of the time I see people who are selling 10 wheat for 1... While I do buy some stacks and re-sell for 25G, I don't suggest this if you havent expanded your shop at all as it can sometimes sit there for up to 15 mins (when using ads) in the newspaper and it can take up valueable space. How ever things that sell fast such as Muffins, Potatoes, Tomaoes, cherries, rasberries, blackberries, roasted tomatoes, coffee beans anything fish related and more, I would always buy these if below the maximum price (Not only to help fill board or boat orders and gain XP, but to sell at a profit as things like berries, cherries etc when advertised will sell at full price within 300 seconds . Anything cheap I see, I buy, I re-sell if not needed and make a profit, it amazes me that people sell things for below full price (Except Eggs in mid levels, you do at one point have a stupid excess, but my suggestion is where you can, bacon and egg pies :) )

Manipulate the newspaper to your advantage

How many times have you got so close to missing a boat on a busy day because you either didn't have what was needed, or you put up requests and no one filled them? if you don't have a big community of players, then using the news paper to your advantage is a must.

Currently Hufflepuff Common room, the trading community I am apart of has 27\30 members and we trade almost daily, but before I came apart of this group I use to nearly miss a few boats.

When ever you place an item up for newspaper, this is how it appears, as you can see the ! alerts people either to a boat or trees, now buy selling 10 soybeans for example at below 100, 99g will catch the attention of many people in the news paper and allow visitors to your farm.

Now even if you don't advertise things like necklaces, popcorn, carrot pies etc, they will still sell because you will have alot more throughput traffic through. As you can see the MOST visitors I have had in a day is 1,530 (about 2 weeks ago) and during that day I did sell premium items, but NON of them were listed. I listed things like wheat (1o for 10 and 10 for 1) I listed other items such as high demand items (Fish\butter\milk\sugar\goat cheese) at just slightly below full price, this attracts a higher number of players even after the item is sold because remember the newspaper is generated for 2-2.5 mins, so if a player is tarty and doesnt click right away, they may still visit your farm.
I would think I on a good day have at least 800-100 visitors by using the newspaper to its advantage and not only filling boat orders, but ensuring that my products have a high turn over. I have about 40ish slots (as I have alot of friends) and have purchased some, and over night when I go to bed I usually try and fill all slots with food and farming (I have a great farming blog coming) and always by morning everything is sold because not only have I presented my best products, I have ensured that every 5 mins when the newspaper blog is up, I place an ad on something, now 5 mins may seem hard, but 99.5% of phones have the times ability, just set it for 5 mins and when your alarm beeps go back in game and add another newspaper ad.

The news paper is about your biggest tool for the game, it brings people to your farm that helps generate revenue, and helps with boats and such, and of course over time if you gather followers etc that also means that you will have even more people who keep coming back to your farm.

This game is all about marketing and how you sell your farm, HayDay has made a great game, and having a business knowledge I use what I know to my advantage to get the full use out of it.

I hope this has helped you gather an insight into how I use the newspaper to my advantage to sell and get my boats done, and remember, you can never have too many people.

My next guide at this stage will be on farming in a couple of days, and how best to maximize your crops.. I have found a great way depending on the day of the week to get the best yield which also means the best amount of crops to use and or sell and make even more money

thanks for reading and I hope you found it useful :)

Paul

PS if you have any additional information of insights to the news paper I would love to hear it.

PPS, you are more then welcome to join our trading group if recruitment is open, were all a friendly bunch of players who look out for each other and always willing to trade, I do regularly remove players who I see leeching (and not contributing) as it works both ways :)

PPS The Hayday Profit and XP spreadsheet is handy
