Good Ole Farming
You know I see it alot when I visit players farms.. Crops that I know have been ready for hours, but its something simple like corn? Now when ever I know I have a busy day at work planned, I always plant Pumpkins.. why? Because they take a while to develop and work out to about when my first and last work break is, thus maximizing what I can sell, Quiet day at the office? then i plant things like Sugar Cane.. I know roughly on the half hour to go.. harvest.. plant.. sell.. rinse.. and repeat.
Now on weekends, people who visit me will know that I am the wheat king.. out of my 40 or so slots.. they are 100% full of wheat (when im able to keep up with demand).. I sell it at 10 for 10.. why? purely for premium items and things like mining and axes that I can use on my land.
I am level 50 and have just finished expanding all farm and sea plots.. While I havent really unlocked many town slots, you don't really need them as everything currently fits in ok.
I also will when I get up in the morning plant things like carrots and soybeans as they are 10 and 20 mins and by the time I tend to my boat, neighborhood, townies etc. they have usually grown and allows me to then load up feed machines for my animals.
I think a fundamental mistake people to make is planting short and long crops together, because most of the time you forget about the short crops and the maximization of profit is gone due to little crops just sitting there.
When I go to bed of a night, I try and plant things like cotton, potatoes and strawberries, the latter 2 are especially hard to find on newspaper so its always good being self sufficient with them.
What I suggest taking away from this, is having a system much like I do for Busy work days, quiet work days, home and even sick days (like I am having today) so that you don't fall behind, because Hay Day although it has a fun aspect to it, it also has quite a business aspect and you want to be maximizing it as much as you can as it means you can have more money to buy things you need when they come up as you level (coffee machine, juicers etc)
